Exposure disabled message.

Hi all, On my screen there is a padlock icon in the top right hand corner that enables you to lock your exposure, cannot get mine to work at present comes up with a warning saying Exposure meter disabled, have gone through my settings a can't find how to enable this feature. Appreciate any assistance.

Is this when you touch the padlock. Does the padlock change (open and close) when clicking on this item?
A screenshot or 2 would be very useful.

Thanks Thomas, I have just figured it out I have been trying to change it in Manual mode and it had to be in Auto before you can lock it.
