Trying to keep exposure locked as everyone says but I’m doing a shot from in dark trees out over a bright lake how would I make this look good? Find a balance or just let it change auto as needed. Thanks.

I go out in the light and adjust my camera. Then in the dark area I frame what silhouettes / detail I can see and move into the light. It doesn't look great on the controller, but on a screen it creates juxtaposition

Instead of exposure lock use manual mode and then use the wheel to tweak the EV as the light changes.
