FAA Registration system is Down

The message on the FAA's website is kind of vague, but I'm assuming that's what they mean.

Got the notification as well. I heard Newark was down, too.

So we're going to have an overhaul of the entire FAA network, does that include the drones? The system is old and antiquated across the board......

Must be converting to the Elon Air System. He is not an elected official, he is an appointed pain in the posterior. Hence this is not a political post.

How does registration work in the US? Is there an annual operator ID fee, like in the UK, to pay for the privilege of flying your drone in US airspace?

For all drones 250g up to 55lbs they need to be registered on the FAADroneZone. For recreational it is $5 for three years and unlimited number of drones. For §107 each aircraft used is $5 for three years all being <55lbs.
