First drone and first month down. In case anyone new reads, here’s some info that helped me.

  • Use a pre-flight checklist
  • Before take off, check all sensors and calibration. Keeps mind at ease to reduce chance of fly aways
  • Don’t fly in high winds. Again keeping it safe.
  • Pay attention to in flight info watch for interference.
  • Buy a landing pad and nd filters
  • Use manual camera modes
  • Use stick config 3 if you are a gamer
No issues and a lot of reading later. Did my first long flight in -10 weather across a lake. 5300m or so.

Thanks for the tips! As a new mavic air owner and long time gamer, I have to admit that flying the drone is somewhat awkward on stick mode 2 ahahah

I will try mode 3 on my next fly :P

It’s night and day. Fps gaming ruins you with a controller as left stick is always movement and right being vision. Once I switched over it was instantly different.

Sample pre-flight checklist?

You’ll see more extensive ones but here’s a basic one I use
  • Take off gimbal protector
  • Turn on controller, Mavic then iPhone in that order
  • Inspect props and basic appearance of the drone
  • In the app it’ll do your firmware checks
  • I check for errors such compass calibration
  • I also check the interference and signals.
  • I don’t fly high winds typically.

That’s my start

Also, if you are flying near obstacles, KEEP LINE OF SIGHT. It's very tempting to fly via the screen and very easy to get into trouble.

I also keep very aware of my drone’s behaviour. IF the feed gets choppy, warning hits or just get a vibe, I turn that expensive number back to a space where it was clear.
