If I start flying at top of mountain and then fly down does it go to negative height?
I'm assuming the height starts with 0 from starting altitude, not sea level.

Is there any issue flying at negative height?

The only issue you may have in that situation is Return to Home.

Your drone does not know what sea level is.
It only knows that home = 0 feet

No ... it makes no difference whether the height is + or -.

How so?
It shouldn't make any difference at all.

Are you sure?

If you have an RTH height set to 50-metres for example, that is 50-metres above takeoff point. If you were then flying 50-metres below takeoff point and hit RTH the drone will climb 100-metres before starting its return home.

Refer to the thread below for insight into RTH quirks close to starting point:

Actually, you would WANT that to happen, rather than just rising 50 meters and then heading for the (even higher) home point.
