Flight Over Metro Areas

I regularly see video shot from overhead of metro areas ... rooftops & the like. FAA / airport distance aside, are there restrictions to flying over a metro area that I should be aware of?

Oh yes. It depends on what you are flying. Most video you see requires the pilots to register the drone, and are pretty much prohibited flying at night, over large crowds, or anywhere near an airport. 50 miles in every direction from White House is totally off limits...my Mavic would not even start the motors in Arlington VA. Be safe, and careful.....Don't be this guy
