Hi,

i just would like to confirm that i am observing... is it a correct assumption that the detailed log in the FlightRecord\MCDatFlightRecords directory only captures time interval from powering on till the time when drone is switched to the 'armed' state and 'home' point is recorded?

as when i look into that folder i see logs in there that correlate with each time i powered up the bird. time of the file is usually 1min or so prior to the time of the flight ans signals in that file are what i want to see - low level FC telemetry. but, it seems oonly to go until the home point is captured.
here is a log file - 19-03-07-10-55-51_FLY026.DAT

after that time i see a log file in the higher level folder - FlightRecord\ -
"DJIFlightRecord_2019-03-07_[10-56-22].txt"
and it has higher level signals but does not show me anything at the IMU or motor level.


what i do not understand - both files are marked with the end flight time - 11.00am. what is the exact logic and how does it work? is the FlightRecord\MCDatFlightRecords directory to capture the telemetry in the non-armed state of the drone only? or is it supposed to have a whole set of an entire telemetry before and during the flight?

bottom line question i have is this - is it possible or not to see low level motor and IMU telemetry data for during the flight?

The txt log captures data from takeoff to landing. The DAT file captures everything from power on to power off.

it does not seem to be true as i do not see any graphs in the DAT file to go beyond 1 min time. why?

i am loading .dat file into the same csvView program - should i use something else? say - here is a GPS time plot:

it is from the smart controller - so, is it something dji did for smart controller only, and, essentially, it is not recording in-flight telemetry anymore into .DAT? or do i misunderstand something?

I spend quite a lot of time looking at DAT files, so I can assure you that it is true.

@paulatkin73 without looking at a particular .DAT it's hard to see what you're doing. But, I'm gonna guess that you need to tell CsvView to accept excessive errors

also, as long as i got you here - - do you know by any chance - is it possible to increase RTL speed from 10m/s to a higher value - 12 or 15 m/s? or is 10m/s considered to be the best most economical setting?

@paulatkin73 without looking at a particular .DAT it's hard to see what you're doing. But, I'm gonna guess that you need to tell CsvView to accept excessive errors

ok, thank you - that was it. the latter option did it and i see now the whole flight duration from the .DAT. that was easy, thx.

You could try changing g_config_go_home_gohome_idle_vel in the parameter settings. That used to work, but I'm not sure about the latest firmware.

You might be referring to the DatCon sample rate.


After DatCon creates a .csv then tell CsvView to load that .csv.

do you know by any chance - that 10m/s speed limit for RTH - is it a limit for a GPS ground speed, or is it a limit imposed on a pitch level? so, what i ask here - if model needs to go against a 5m/s wind - will it still attempt to do a 10m/s ground speed by gaining up to a 15m/s air speed, or will it efficiently reduce down to 5m/s ground speed as RTH limits the pitch angle that controls max possible 10m/s air speed?

test i did above was on a day with no wind at all. i have recorded 17.5m/s in sport mode, 12.5m/s in P mode and 10m/s in RTH. so my concern is what is the default logic of RTH to control against the wind speed in case of a lost signal. it used to be an issues with earlier open source software but now it is always an ground speed limit up to a pre-configured max angle. i did not see in parameters anything that would control max angle for RTH mode specifically, but, would like to know how it works, exactly.

It's a ground speed setting, not a limit in either speed or pitch. Pitch is additionally limited to 25° in that mode, however.

that is a problem, i guess. as 12.5m/s is a speed with my altered pitch to 28deg. sport mode i have on 40deg.

25deg limit may then indeed be a reason it does just a 10m/s max speed. it is a problem... hmm. ok.

on other param - i just looked, there is no such thing in mavic 2. and no way to set different limit for this 25deg angle, is seems. pity.
