I know technically we cannot fly in any restricted zone. Previously the DJI app would not let you even take off. Now it seems you can takeoff as long as you check a box saying you are liable for anything that happens while flying in this zone. I only fly indoors and on my deck in the backyard below 10 ft. I currenlty have a mini 4 pro which I just got last week. I previously had the mini 1 and flew it for years. What you guys think? Is this risky? Anyone else doing this? I feel like nobody would care as long as I stay in my yard area and fly at low levels.

What zone are you talking about?

I've flown in the DC FRZ. I'll tell you do not fly outside your home!

The DC FRZ is the most heavily monitored airspace in the country. I can promise you that D.C Metro, the Capitol Police, and even DHS will know the absolute second you turn your drone on. And it looks like you're flying outside, they will show up at your door. They not only know the model and s/n of your drone, they know exactly where you're standing. So even if you're on your back porch, they know you're there.

We had all of our paperwork, all of our permits, and I called Capitol Police every time we put up a new drone. And we had a Metro officer with us the entier time.

Yet we still have a column of 5 motorcycle cops roll up on us.

Just don't don't do it. True integrity is what we do when you think no one is watching. And I can promise you, someone is watching in the D.C FRZ!!!

Hi Vic, Seems so far I gotten away with it is as I have flown mostly indoors. I really dont have anywhere nearby to fly. Im in Alexandria and the closest safe fly space is about 30 mins away. I seriously doubt they can control the airspace inside our house but I will stop flying outdoors even if in my yard or deck. Thanks for advice even though its not what I wanted to hear. ;)

Right. The FAA does not regulate the interior of buildings. Building interiors are not part of the national airspace.
