I find flying over water to be quite boring since the scenery does not change. When I do I don't wander too far from shore. I would also not fly over water with an untested craft or batteries (r.e. new). As for problems:Any Problems that i might have in flying over water with my mavic pro platinum. I have heard some horror stories.
My friend lost his Mavic over a river. Why?Make sure you have sufficient battery power to make it back to the home point. If your Mavic auto lands over water, you likely won't be able to retrieve it. Other than that, it's just as safe as flying over land.

Parallel to shore is a good idea. However you might still get landscape to interfere with signal.I find flying over water to be quite boring since the scenery does not change. But on the positive side, you cannot beat signal clarity over water. Just make sure you have plenty of battery to get back. Pay attention to winds aloft so you do not have to fight a head wind on the return. If you are trying a long distance flight, fly parallel to the shore so you can land if forced to.
- Downward sensors may be inaccurate over water. Low-level flights may lead to crash due to fluctuations in perceived height.
- OA may detect false positives from reflected sunlight causing it to stop. If communication is lost it may just hover until forced to land in the water.
- Water damage can cause a whole list of problems that may not appear until later.
- If it cannot be recovered then you will be unable to use Refresh to replace it.
There are lots of possible causes and all could just as easily have happened on land.My friend lost his Mavic over a river. Why?

Yes, you do!!! In the one photo, is that a very dark shadow or was that a burn area? I am sorry, but it does look like a burn area to me. Where is it, I'd like to google the general area.I pretty much ONLY can fly over water if I want to fly any sort of distance at all... I always try to stay above 100ft and never fly directly into the sun.
Interesting... I see that at the top of the photo with the house... Hmmm... Sun sets in the west, right? Lol. That's 100% southwest of where I sit.... I dunno.. I must have flown it away and at a different direction... I had to do a 180 to come home.. Maybe I did? But I definitely DO NOT want to....Yes, you do!!!
