what's the consensus about leaving them on during the day .... yes or no.

if on, do they suck much battery power?

also, do they turn off temporarily when snapping a picture or while doing video? I thought I saw an option for this once but can't locate it now.

They are LEDs so the power draw is insignificant. I think by default they turn off when taking video but they can be set to stay on or off completely. I have one of back controller buttons set to turn them on or off

They don't use much battery. Switch them on if you like to see them. The option to turn them off during video is in the camera settings.

I did some math on this, and found you only gain 2 seconds of additional flight time if you leave them off.
