Hi all, owned my MM for a couple of weeks now and lots of indoor flights in the blue zone to get the hang of controlling it. Went to park today out of NFZ and had a good time, didn’t crash?
Ok one thing I didn’t like and looking for feedback was the gimble up / down controller. Seems to me it’s configured the wrong way. Pushing to right goes up, pulling to the left down.
Logic says you push down and pull up.
Doesn’t seem to be calibration change I can make to reverse this?
Or am I wrong?

I also find it confusing, but sadly there is no way to change the direction of the tilt at this point. I always preferred this way, but due to the unchangeable configuration I was forced to learn it anew. Then again, it takes a flight or two to get it down properly and each new skill develops your overall drone proficiency.

did you know you can change the speed of the gimbal movement in the app under camera, and also how abruptly it stops and starts when you use the thumb wheel , you will get used to the thumbwheel control with practice its no different to the left stick pull down descend push up climb

Thought so, thanks for your reply

Yes know that stuff and using it. There should be a simple cal change to the gimbal control wheel as individuals prefer like the rest.
Are you hearing me DJI

Same with the sticks. After flying a plane, it’s intuitive to push forward to go down and pull back to go up. Exactly opposite of our drone controls. I still get it backwards fairly often (Not in the plane). Have fun

That's why I am struggling with the controls I'm a commercial pilot, no longer a stick and rudder man but control column forward go down control column back go up

Well, as a RC plane pilot I like to place the gaz stick on the right (which makes up and down for the MM) and the left stick push = nose down, pull = nose up as for the plane's attitude.
Obviously the effect in terms of direction are different between drones and planes but thinking in attitude makes it easy to learn !

Huh? Got it. Switch stick config mode and fly with RC upside down! SOLVED.....not. Even more confusing.

just need somebody to build a reversed left stick and all will be well in the world. Have fun, fly safe.

Hmmm. I certainly hope the stick layout options work. It would be rather disappointing if they didn't.

Anyway, newb here. I've got a Mini waiting under the tree, and it will be my first RC aircraft. Can any of the old hands advise me on which control setup I "should" use? I was thinking about trying out various ones to see which felt the best, but I can see the benefit of just forcing myself to learn whatever the most common/accepted one is. (That way I'll have the best chance of being able to transfer my skills (if any) to a new drone/application/whatever.)

While I have no experience with RC joysticks, I do have thousands of hours of time on game pads! : ) In 1st and 3rd-person games, the controls are generally mapped thusly when you're just running around:

Left stick: Translates your position around on a horizontal plane. (forward, back, and sideways) This is your "move around" stick. Similar to a helicopter's cyclic control, I guess?

Right stick: Pitch and yaw, but pitch is reversed compared to an aircraft. (You press upwards to pitch upwards) This is your "look around" stick.

So, I could attempt to emulate those settings on the drone, but I'm obviously missing altitude control entirely. And on a drone, pitch and forward/back are the same thing, so that's confusing. Also, I've played many hours of flight-sims on a controller, and in those cases I do follow the stick-forward to pitch-downward convention. I'm not a monster!

Anyway, do you think I should stick with whatever the "industry standard" is here in 'Merica, or do I dare try to cobble something together that might match my muscle memory a bit better at first?

I guess the following would be the closest match to typical game pad control:

Left stick: Pitch and roll

Right stick: Altitude and yaw
