A good discussion here.

I went and tested 5 minutes flight with and without, going in same pattern. 100m straight up, forward, down to 50m and home point.
What surprised me was the increase in temps with cover left on. Nearly 20 deg increase with laser measure gun on bottom panel of mavic ( 17 deg day).

That was enough to tell me this will only shorten the onboard electronics if left on overtime. I did mention this when I had the mavic refreshed with DJI and they were happy I didn't leave it on especially on hot days. Not worth it and the footage results either.

Recommend to store with it on, more than fly for too long i guess.

I attached this as an option for anyone who wants to protect the gimbal during flight. Looks to have the centre free for air flow, not sure?
