Google Photos-synced video does not play on the web

I use Google Photos to backup videos/photos. The cached 720P videos play fine on the phone, but when I visit G Photos on the web and select the videos, they do not play. Just the spinning circle. Even more strange, when I hover the mouse over a video (in album view), it shows a few seconds of the clip (which is normal and expected behavior). Again, when I click on the video, it does not play.

It is definitely only with the DJI videos. Other synced content plays fine. Seeing the same with my Spark videos.

Any idea why?

Digging deeper, I am finding that this is a Google Photos issue. I will report back if I find a solution.

I only sync the still images to Google photos. Have blocked syncing of the videos to Google as I use the hi def on the SD mostly and don’t have unlimited 4G data in any case.
Let us know what you find out though.

Apparently an ongoing issue w/ G Photos/Chrome related to HTML5. Some found relief by removing the HTML5 autoplay extension. It also worked for me, for now...

I upload to Google Photo too and get the arrow with the verticle hash marks with the spinning circle. If I hit the hash marks I get the right arrow and the video begins.usunig ios11.2.2
