Goose Control

Total rookie here with some basic questions. I'm considering a drone for wild goose control on my property. My intent is to only annoy (not harm) them enough to the point where they will not return. (That is the excuse to the wife) There is also the strong possibility I may get more involved (having fun) in the hobby. I apologize if this isn't the appropriate forum for this information. If not, would someone be kind enough to direct me to a reliable source of information?

Questions:
Is a smart phone required to control a drone?
Can a drone be controlled by a Microsoft Pro 6 tablet(Windows 10)?
Can real time drone video be displayed on a Microsoft Pro 6? (I have a home wifi network)
Any recomendations for a starter drone to meet my needs (and possible immersion) in the hobby?

• A smart phone or tablet is required to set up a DJI drone and get it out of beginner mode. After setup it is not required to fly but will have limited range from the RC and no video feed.
• I don't know about the Pro 6 tablet.
• Real time video will be displayed on whatever is running Go 4 (DJI control software) when connected to the AC.
• Recommendations? I guess you would want something noisy and I understand the Air makes more noise than the Pro, but I have not compared the two. The Tello is the least expensive DJI alternative but may have limited range for your application.

And FYI - A goose can and will easily take down a drone so perhaps an under $100 toy would be a better choice. This may satisfy the wife and mitigate the loss when a goose takes it out, but is no where near the experience of having a quality (and more expensive) DJI product.

Hi Pete - Just answering this question for you ... If you control the Mavic drone using a mobile device, that device must have an app' called 'DJI Go 4' loaded & running on it. As far as I'm aware, there are only Go 4 app's available for Apple iOS (iPhones / iPads), and for Google Android phones and tablets.

You'd probably scare them for a little while. Then they'll get used to it, cos they'd learn you mean them no harm. Then they'll attack it cos you are now invading their privacy/airspace.

A propane bird cannon would probably serve you better for bird control. Cheaper than the risk of losing a thousand dollar plus drone. Keep the drone for entertainment only.

If you're buying a drone strictly for goose control and not camera quality --- I'd buy a used Phantom 3 on Ebay and equip it with a drop device --- then you can drop stink bombs and other nasty stuff on those geese and tell them to ske-daddle off your property !!

X2. A few of those will do better than a drone. Use what farmers depend on and what's approved. Check with the local fish & game to find out your options.

Might want to be careful. Geese are classifed as Federally protected waterfoul and harrasing them could result in a nasty Dept of Natural Resources fine if caught (or if someone reports you)..

Interesting idea. However you might have better luck with a large Dog - we use a Golden Retriever with - so far - 100% success.

We prefer this to the Cannons, which sadly have a terrible impact on nearby Neighbors.
