Thats my ratio for people wanting to harass me when I fly in perfectly legal spots.
Once a little league team manager came storming across a park at me when his little leaugers would rather pay attention to me flying well past thier outfield. The little tykes could not stay focused on what this windbag was saying so he came stomping over. I thought he was joking with this sumo wrestler gait and decided to mimic it and storm toward him. Come to find out he was serious and started yelling "Take a swing" "Take a swing" I looked down at my controller in one hand and my Phantom 3 (this was back in the days when the Phantom was the top of the food chain for DJI) in the other and was puzzled as to how I was supposed to Take a Swing.
I just started yelling right back in his face. He yelled "I am going to call the cops" . I yelled "I'll wait ya F in this ya F in that"
Eventually he told me to leave the park and I told him
you first. After that he wandered back over to the kiddies.
This was in California.
I also fly in Nevada -
People dont typically harass me here as its still the old west (if you catch my drift)
Although I was flying in Lake Tahoe once and was down a trail really close to the Lake in front of a look out point and a guy yelled "Thats MY drone" I yelled " Well come down and get it"
Dead silent ! Then 3 -5 minutes later same guy in the crowd "Thats MY drone" Same response from me "Come down and get it"
Nothing!
What I have learned . Do not land your USAS when flying and confronted. Instead use it as a tool to point toward yourself and the alleged harasser video running.
Landing the Mavic will more than likely occupy both your hands and gives no video documentation as to what will transpire. Also , if the harasser can get thier hands on your Mavic they may be prone to chuck it into a large body of water, stomp it, slam it to the ground in hopes of doing damage, etc.
I now LEGALLY fly with non-lethal and lethal deterrents. I also have some special training
