Guy announces plans to take FAA to court and challenging NPRM

Solid ground for a legal challenge; no, but it does send a message to the FAA that the drone community is not happy with their proposed remaking in a way that leaving a public comment on a website just can't compare.

Unfortunately, IMHO the message it sends (at least from my point of view) is this:

The people "protesting" are clueless about what they are protesting (It's only a proposal)
The people "protesting" don't understand how the system works. Protesting a "Proposal" that still has yet to be defined is pointless.

We all had time to submit our thoughts, feelings, suggestions, and grievances to the FAA. Protesting before any revisions are made and before anything is even remotely finalized is a waste of time. Let the FAA read the submissions, analyze them, digest them, and MAYBE come back with a proposal that makes more sense.

To be honest, it makes the Drone Community look like a bunch of spoiled whiny babies who are going to pitch a temper tantrum if we don't get what we want.

We, as a community can do better than this and hopefully we can demonstrate that going forward.

At this stage in the process the best thing to do if you don't like any aspects of the rule is to contact your Congressman or Senator regarding the proposed rules or contact members of the Senate Commerce Subcommittee on Aviation and Space; and the Subcommittee on Aviation, a subcommittee within the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee. That's how the process works from this point on until the rule is finalized.
Phone calls and letters to your elected representative's local offices carry a lot of weight, emails not so much- they tend to support campaign contribution lists.

Very well said.

I don't know about the drone community. There are certainly some that support it; but most of the comments on the NPRM that are in support of it seem to be coming from model aircraft flyers
I expect the majority of the support is coming from our corporate overlords that want to monetize that airspace. The only way to effectively do that is to have everything networked and leverage automation and AI. They win and most everyone else loses, as opportunity and quality of life is further reduced. But everybody pushing it is going to be touting "progress" and all the "benefits". Welcome to life on the motherboard.

Not to sound like a conspiracy theorist, but it's a possibility that amazon/ups/etc could be paying people to comment on the nprm in support of it.

I own several companies, some of the things include apps on the app store and selling products on amazon. It's quite easy to hire people to write fake reviews for those (your email inbox gets bombarded with companies offering their services to write the fake reviews). I haven't ever used them because I think it's wrong. But just saying, there are lots of services out there that will write whatever you want for $.

I did not read all the comments but I find it extremely hard to believe that there are many, if any, model aircraft flyers that support the NPRM.
