WOW sorry, forsee this.

This remained me a club member over 10 years ago that was tunning a 40% Extra with a DA-150 with a 31X12 carbon prop and his hand got caught in full blast. I had to call a doctor friend of mine to attend him in an emergency because he had no insurance and can not afford a doctor. The doctor fixes him for free (since he was my neighbor) and saturates 22 stitches. That is pretty bad.

Been there. Done that. Hated it. It took me about a month to not be scared of hand-catching again!

I had a close encounter with my finger nail with the Mavic pro. I learned how to hand catch though withthe Mavic mini. That is a much easier bird to learn that on ? But after I cut my finger nail, I learned that you should keep your fingers curled toward your palm and let the machine land in your palm and grab it with your fingers curled when the propellers start to wind down. I don’t think many people tell you to keep your fingers curled. Most people I see use their fingers like a tripod.

Lol, already commented in that reddit thread, was a bit confused seeing it here for a second.

I hand catch 50% of the time, keep eye on drone and grabbing it is how i do it (then turning it over by pressing down left on left joystick to turn off).. I have had one incident when i was talking to someone when i did it and got a nick after many many hand catches.

I have damaged my hands & fingers enough through the years that I can't face another injury. This is how I hand catch safely: I wear a heavy utility glove. What it lacks in dexterity, it makes up in protection. I would NEVER catch bare handed. I face the front of the drone- props are higher in front. I arch my palm up, fingertips slightly down. I slide my hand straight in from towards the front -which sensors don't react to. I fly a M2P, which I suspect is more stabile in wind. If in doubt, or perhaps ultra high wind, I would default to the landing pad, which I always keep folded in the pack. Hope this helps.

Ouch. I hand catch my Zoom 80% of the time due to terrain and knock on wood no issues and 200 flights in. Best of luck next time
