Air 3 Hanging off the bridge

Something a bit different. I passed under the Friarton bridge in Perthshire, Scotland and seen the rope access guys doing their job so asked if they'd be ok with me filming them doing their stuff and they were. Not for the faint of heart or those with any sort of fear of heights. There isn't any amount of money you could pay me to do this. Definetly a job for a special breed of person. I had sweaty palms just watching them, hope you enjoy the video.

I sure do hope you asked or let the guys know that you were going to do fly your drone around them. Distraction could be the very thing that would get one of them killed

There were other guys who had just come down from the other side of the bridge and I asked them so they radio'd the guys still up there and they were happy for me to fly. I explained I wouldn't get too close to them and would use the zoom lens for close up shots. If they weren't happy or comfortable with me doing it then I wouldn't have done it.

Made me a little nervous just watching. A few years ago I was doing a job for bridge inspection. We had to photograph every gusset plate on this bridge. The Blatnik bridge spans from Duluth, MN to Superior, WI. We were using an Inspire 1, which was giving us a 12-13 minute flight time. You had to get up there, get positioned, do your photos and get down in 12 minutes. Ahhh, the old days.

Oh, it is not even close to a full time job for me. The gusset plate photos were the “work”, for me the fun is in the artistic side, like the pano.

Thanks. I currently fly the Air 3 and have never used any filters. For video I always shoot in normal mode at 60fps. I only do minimum adjustments when editing my videos.
