Has anyone here switched from the Mavic 3 classic to the Air 3?

If so what were you reasons for doing so? And do you have any regrets in making the switch?

I just bought the mavic 3 classic with the screen remote on a good deal from best Buy. But now the air 3 is on a 20% sale at Best Buy. And I haven't opened the mavic 3 classic yet. But I'm tempted to swap it out for the air 3 just because it's roughly $300 cheaper. Which is a good savings.

I like the larger sensor on the mavic 3 classic and the 20 megapixel sensor for photos
But the air 3 is newer, faster, battery runtime is the same, has Ocusync 4.0, extra batteries are substantially cheaper. And the biggest factor is that it it would be $300 cheaper.

IMO the only advantage the Air 3 has over the Mavic 3 Classic is the dual camera. Otherwise both aircraft are excellent with almost identical capabilities. I have Ocusync 4 on my Mini 4 Pro and I have not found it to be any better than my Mavic 3 Classic. Both have excellent quality and range. Yes the cost difference is a factor to consider.

Both are good in their way.

If you want a real upgrade you may need to wait for air 3s and mavic 4

But then again its dji so real upgrades is a relative term

You're right, the dual camera system on the Air 3 is really the only big benefit. But faster take off speed is a nice advantage too over the Mavic 3 classic. Right now I'm leaning towards just opening my Mavic 3 classic.

Best Buy nails you for 15% restocking fee once you open drone packages. So even if I tried the Mavic 3 classic and wanted to exchange it for the Air 3, I get hit with a 15% restocking fee. So want to avoid that if I can

I saw this yesterday. Sounds like Air 3S is coming and is a big upgrade over Air 3. Maybe that's why we are seeing such a big sale on the current Air 3.

I think the phrase “game-changing” as referenced in the YouTube video is overused. Hype hype hype.

I am hoping that a new Air is in the works soon though.

My decision to buy mavic 3 classic were larger sensor, adjustable aperture and internal cooling fun

What is the second lens on the Air 3? 3x? I find that to be very useful on my Mavic 3 Pro. It would be the deciding factor for me.

Reading material.

I have a question. Has DJI fixed the lag issues with Mavic 3 classic and the RC controller? Because if it's laggy still due to the RC controller having weak hardware. I will return this unit and get the one with the N1 controller and just use my backup Samsung phone with it.

Lag is a deal breaker for me

Air 3 has fixed aperture on both cameras. 1.7 on the wide, 2.8 on the tele, IIRC.

It would be a downgrade, you could switch to the Mavic 3 or the Mavic 3 Pro if you want the 7x or the 7x plus the 3x. The 7x is really fun and useful, although the main camera will be the same.

Mavic 3 + RC Pro + 1001 hack (DH hack) is the best camera drone to fly by far, specially if the no RID is working for your unit.

Best camera on <900g, best flight performance, little enough to carry around on the bag and takeoff from the hand, fully hackable (no RID, permanent FCC, no geofencing, no altitude limit, LEDs can be turned off, atti mode, etc), etc.

Another upgrade would be to pick the M3 enterprise with the physical shutter, or the M3T for the thermal. You'll need to wait for the M4 to get a proper upgrade (and wait for the hacks, else I wouldn't consider flying it).

For a different opinion on this, I'm much more concerned about the risk of having an encounter with the authorities for flying a drone not transmitting RID than some Karen/Ken finding and harassing me because I'm transmitting RID.

You won't catch me flying an RID-required drone in the US with it disabled.

I dont see how anyone would track you down with hacked Mavic3. And for sure karen and ken is the last thing why people hate RID. I have mavic3 with DH hack - I totally agree its by far the best drone today for any situation you would ever need.

Had both. Drones are very simmilar almost identical without speaking about cameras. If you are pro/semipro photographer 70mm camera (3x) is a must, you can do so much greater scenes. 160mm (7x) good only for checking places, poor quality. Main camera is superior on mavic3 but I was very rarely using it on my mavic3pro. 70mm camera was 80% of my photos. So I would say air3 is a lot better drone than mavic3 classic only because of 70mm camera.

Thanks for your input. Wow 70mm/3x is really that useful? It is appealing I will agree. But also love the adjustable aperture on the Mavic and the 20MP camera too.
