Hello everyone,

Born and raised in New York and I'm a huge aviation buff. I got into drones five years ago when I bought a Mavic mini. Had a blast flying it and upgraded to a 3 classic. I came here to chat and learn from other folks who love droning. I also got into photography using my drone and making little videos. Id also love to maybe meet and go fly with people in my area.
I especially love WW1 and have had an obsession with Manfred von Richthofen since I was a chid and my dad took me to The old Rhinebeck Aerodrome.

My Grandfather was in the Scottish Gordon Highlanders in World War I, then called the "Great War" as they did not know they needed to number them then… My Grandfather probably also had "an obsession with Manfred von Richthofen" but for a whole bunch of different reasons…

His regiment was a machine gunning unit, and I imagine he took more than a passing fancy to any German aircraft flying overhead…

If I remember my history correctly, the Red Baren ultimately was killed by a solitary British soldier with his Enfield, firing a single shot… The bullet entered von Richthofen right arm and passed thorough his lungs. He was able to land his plane, but soon died… For years, a Canadian pilot claimed he shot the Red Baron down and it was not until long after the war that the real story came out…

Fly Safe and don't get shot down…

That's amazing!! My friends parents have a cabin on Indian lake and I went fishing on Shroon lake. It's gods country up there. Funny thing about the Baron's death, I wrote a paper about him in 7th grade and said feel that the Austrailan gunner shot him not Capt Brown. My aunt was a nurse and she helped me chat with a doctor and he agreed with me. Id love to chat ore with you about you grandpa

I read he was shot down by a Canadian or Australian ground gun crew.

Hi.... Montana is the most beautiful state in the county IMO.. I envy you being able to to fly and film there. I wanna take a trip out there soon
We wouldn’t live anywhere else. However, 3 months during the winter we travel to the Texas Gulf Coast so we don’t get permanently frozen 🥶!

Who am I to argue with "Paul Harvey…" L 🤣 L . . . Like I wrote, there was a lot of contentious claims and what I remember may not be correctly remembered or I read one of the unsubstantiated claims.

Now, here is a challenge, what is the latest claim of Christopher Columbus's nationality? I read they claim he was not Italian at all… And as a side note, I have a few years on you and I remember "Columbus Day" being a school holiday…

As Paul said, "And now you know...the rest of the story"

PS: I was stationed at Davis-Monthan when I retired from the Air Force in '00 after a 30-year career…
