No, the dogs are still necessary. Some of the old black faced ewes take a bit of shifting!!. Drone is good for the places where you wouldn't like to endanger your dogs. I have recorded dogs barking, a shepherd whistling, gunshots and police sirens to give the sheep the initial shock to start them running. Works well. Trouble starts when groups divide and you can only go after one lot at a time.Welcome from the Hampton Roads area of Virginia, USA. We have a Member's Map in the Upper Right of the Title Bar.

A beautiful video, thanks for sharing. My wife wants to know if your drone put your dogs out of work. And I'm curious if your drone "Barks" like some of the drones in Australia?

Big welcome to the forum from Ireland dgw22I fly the Mavic Enterprise Zoom to gather hill sheep in the Highlands of Scotland.
Thank you for getting back. My Wife and I recently watched a TV Special on how dogs work with sheep and cattle. The special showed many different dogs working. I know a dog enjoys "working" and it feels useful and fulfilled. I know I'm amorphizing human characteristics onto the dogs, but I know your dogs are not just dumb working dogs just doing "tricks" they are intelligent and make decisions on their own on how to control the sheep and they need the approval of their Alphas (owners). No, the dogs are still necessary
