Surprised you found anywhere in Portsmouth without the dreaded 'no drones here' signs that are all over that **** city ! I used to fly on Southsea seafront all the time until all the wretched signs went up...
It's true - since all the signs went up all along the Southsea beach-front I have avoided Portsmouth full stop ! :/
I think there's a HIRTA over that area anyway isn't there (certainly the military bits), so I wouldn't try to fly in those anyway, but I was really gutted when they ruled out all the beaches.
Fortunately, Hayling island next door are much more reasonable !
Hi again I used my Hubsan 501ss on Eastney, Southsea, Clarence all along the sea front. I was there using my new mavic platinum day before I still didn't see any signs mind you I was spoken to when I was at Portchester Castle.
iam going there today to do some point of view shots ( first time ) will keep an eye out for signs and let you know if I see any
Fair play ! I would very much like to know if they are still there ! As I remember they are at intervals along the beach side of the main seafront walkway, and at the entrances to the parks with the statue and southsea castle.
You made me laugh though I too got in 'almost' big trouble for filming Portchester castle ! I had English Heritage on the phone, and then a series of emails, and they shopped me to the CAA, though I was able to defend my flight (Castle was closed to visitors, so empty, and in the light of the then very much grey-area laws) to some extent, so no action was taken, and I was let off with a warning, and had to promise to never overfly any EH site again ! I never have done since, though it remains a constant annoyance that these people can forbid such places to the members of the public who are best-equipped to film and document them !
