From time to time misinformation gets posted that suggests that the Mavic 4 pro isn't as good as the Mavic 3 pro that it superseded because the field of view of the main camera is slightly less.
Apparently this is a big problem ... if you are shooting in a tightly constrained location where it's not possible to move the drone back a little to get the whole subject in.
But that's not all.
The wider lens of the Mavic 3 is more encompassing which makes for more dramatic shots.

But that's all BS.
In practice the small difference in focal length is trivial and makes no difference to the results a competent photographer can achieve.
It's not the field of view of your lens that matters, it's how the photographer uses it.
Even with the finest equipment, a poor photographer can achieve poor results.
But a good photographer can create great images with mediocre equipment.

The lens isn't wide enough to create expansive images? BS

This image would have a more dramatic perspective if only the lens was wider? BS

You need a wider field of view to create images with depth? BS

The facts are that the Mavic 4 pro is a wonderful camera drone.
It flies faster, further and for longer and does everything better than previous models could.
The difference between the 24 mm (equiv) and 28 mm (equiv) lenses of the main cameras of the Mavic 3 & 4 is trivial and makes no real difference in the ability of this drone to achieve great results.
The other cameras have also been much improved as well and give the owner the ability to capture images with other dramatic perspectives like these.

Certainly it’s had some bugs (like detecting non-existent obstacles), and I certainly don’t like the lack of USA sales and support, but overall I’m incredibly impressed with mine. Image quality is spectacular, the three lenses give great creative options, battery life is fantastic, and more. Very happy that I chose to invest in the upgrade from my 3.

These merchant vessels don't mind being filmed?

No worries about secret cargo being exposed?

Top quality photos @Meta4

So wish I could afford to get one. Would move my work to the next stage

@Meta4, it looks like the person at the helm on the pilot boat is waving to the drone. Have they gotten to know you and expect your visits?
They know me and the pix I take.
I ride with them sometimes in that beautiful boat.
That's pretty good quality considering that what I posted is one half of a horizontal shot with the medium tele.

They like the photos.
If anyone had something to hide, they aren't going to leave it out where it could be seen.

Wow. You're fortunate to be able to do that. I did a few trips on large cargo ships on the Mississippi River with an older cousin who was the second-most senior pilot on the section between Baton Rouge and New Orleans. After 9/11, it would take something akin to an act of Congress to do that again. My cousin was annoyed that he couldn't get a guest on board the ship, but there had been no inspection whatsoever of what the ship was carrying.

I was amazed at the detail and sharpness of those photos, even the versions posted on a website.

Having had the Mavic 4 Pro from almost release date, I am amazed with all its features although have yet to exploit most. My wife threw a large baby shower party at our home for one of her colleagues yesterday, indoors only due to cooler and windy weather here. Everyone was taking pics as usual with their iPhones etc. and here I was 'just for the heck of it' using my Osmo Pocket 3. Then I asked my wife if she'd be fine with me using my drone and she said go ahead. This led me to fly my Mavic 4 Pro indoors (we have a fairly large home and huge foyer and entertaining space with 13' plus high flat ceilings) and took some amazing photos and videos only using the 1x lens and boy the crisp color and steady videos of around 60 guests was stunning; the drone did not bother any guest, did not scare anyone, I did not fly stupid hence it was great; I'm no expert at this stuff but results were stunning. I'll be sending pics and unedited videos to the expentant mum. I'm also considering sending it to my cousin for editing, if he has the time, whose been doing this professionally for almost thirty plus years for prime TV stations etc.
