How high will the air fly when taking off ?

Hey, i finally got my mavic air just now and i would try to fly indoors (the room is very wide and long so there is enough space) at the beginning till an hour and then i go out with it since its more fun outdoors.
I am to scared to hit the take off button indoors since i dont know how high it will fly at the start...

Can someone tell me how high it flies when taking off ? and also can i adjust the high of it ? also where can i turn off the bottom sensor ? i have watched many youtube videos and guides when i was waiting for my air and i thought i have learned all that cuz it looked easy. But now when i got my air now in my hands, i have no clue from all the settings haha.
 
Don't do it.
A lot of crashes happen indoors if GPS signal is weak or lost, it will go into Atti mode, which requires a fairly light touch and constant control input . . . it might not hover nice and stable like it will outdoors.

Go to a large flat area, like a sports ground or oval, public park (with few people around) and do your first flight, and wait for good weather, light wind etc.
But first, watch YouTube for first flight tutorials, they are very good for all consumer drones and take you through the best process for a safe flight and return.
 
Those replies nailed it on the head. Flying indoors is _difficult_. I'd recommend it not be done or only done once a person gets very good at controlling the drone. Also, read the online manual... and then read it again.

I just hit the "geo zones" in the dji app and i realized that there are weird markers on my location. Please tell me i can still fly somehow... i am living in a village and there is a airport a city further and that seems like i am not able to fly here at all and the thing is, i have no car so i cant leave this place to try the drone...

See Picture. I am within that red mark. It is marked blue by the app, what does that mean ? ... dont wanna waste 30min of walking to a park which is still within that blue mark.

Ps. I dont mean the big bright blue mark at the right. I am more at the left inside the other mark.

It is hard to tell where you are located from that map. You can go here and check to see if you are inside a no fly zone. You will also find there explanations about what each color coded zone is and whether or not you can fly inside it.
 
Ty a lot. Okay i am in altitude zone so only my altitude is limited :).
 
It should climb to about 4 - 6 feet and hoover. Outside it should do the same. It won't climb any higher until you start using the controller sticks. Don't know if the height can be adjusted.
 
Unless you have trained with non-gps assisted drones, don't do it.
If you can fly a SYMA X5C, then you can fly indoors.

I tried to fly the air indoors and it was moving the whole time ... i am glad that i tried it in our biggest room which is free. So i could fly a bit around there but it was moving a lot to the right, then left, then forward... i didnt pressed anything.

When i hit take off indoors, my air went over 2M high... it was keep going higher but i started to hold down the left stick to lower the height because it was hitting the roof almost... can someone explain me what i did there wrong ? It seems like it flies so high as possible in ATTI indoors when taking off till i hold the left stick down.
 
If too close to the ceiling, the props will pull it upwards and it will 'suck' onto the ceiling.
If fairly level, it will mark the ceiling a bit but probably not do too much damage to the drone / props . . . some suitable left stick down should get it unstuck, or CSC and be ready to catch it !
Best to simply avoid flying indoors really, not much point in it, unless it's an interesting abandoned warehouse with heaps of room to fly manually in non gps mode.
 
Would you agree that DJI don’t make it clear enough, that the drone won’t hover still whilst in ATTI mode?

I lost a Mavic Air to ATTI mode, hope not too many others have made that mistake

I have watched many mavic air indoor flights. They never looked like my mavic air. Of course their drone is still moving automatically, but not extremly like mine.
So same feel here. My mavic air was moving agressive. When i take off, it flies all the way up till it either crashes or i hold the left stick down. Also it moves forward, left, back, right, very agressive and i dont even press / hold the right stick at all (of course i understand it moves automatically because ATTI but it moves faster than those videos i see on YT haha). Tried to tame that thing but i had no success lol. I mean the room is really safe. Its like a huge empty hall. Just the ceiling fears me.

You can manually fire it up by pushing both sticks down and out and then go up as high as you want I have a phantom 4pro v 2.0 and a Mavic 2 pro and I’ve hovered both in my house with no problems but I wouldn’t recommend it if you’re not Experienced I don’t fly in my house to dangerous to many obstacles so it’s better to fly outside

I’m not really familiar with the Mavic air but my Mavic and my phantom hover at 4 feet when you launch with the app my phantom though will hover at 20 feet for Percision landing

I flew my Air manually indoors in large open rooms before I took it outside. Every move needs to be slow and deliberate, don't use RTH or any other features, but you can get familiar with the controls, gimbal adjustment, test your video settings, confirm you are recording to internal or SD card or not set up correctly to record video like you want, among dozens of other things . Collision avoidance kept me centered in the rooms I flew. If things look like they're going to go bad, just land.
The biggest advantage to flying inside for me was the ability to hover or fly slowly while going through the DJI GO4 app without environmental consequences. The app is complex for any DJI beginner, so it is an opportunity to learn how the software works and how to navigate the app. I also had 3 firmware updates that came up after I had initiated indoor flight, so I was able to deal with those with my home based wifi instead of having it happen in the field.
I'd recommend using the propeller guards and flying indoors until you are familiar with everything you can use and get basic settings adjusted (like gimbal speed, etc) so you don't have to focus on those things as you develop your outdoor skills. By doing that, the quality of my first video efforts exceeded what we needed on the first flight, a pleasant surprise.
If getting to a place to fly is as inconvenient as it sounds for you, log flying time indoors as much as you can so that your outdoor flying time is more productive during the limited time you may have for it.

Be aware this also causes your drone to stop in emergency (CSC), so get used to never moving your sticks down and in, or down and out at the same time when flying !

I recall my first ever drone flight, my sons P4 at my workshop premises . . . I was flying it around fairly well (fast and quite wildly in retrospect, but felt in control) with son hovering close next to me, ha ha.
AFTER I landed, he said, "oh, never have sticks down and in / out, it will shut down motors" !!
I replied "NOW you tell me !!!"

I think CSC has changed a bit on some drones, but pretty sure with my MP, CSC is down and in, or down and out.
Thinking now, I usually do manual take off most flights, use it to take off starting with down and in, then lift vertically fairly quickly with left stick up gently . . . then straight up to 10m to record precision landing.

So too landing can be down by RTH, or, left stick down at landing site until you reach auto landing, and it will land, then I use CSC sticks down and in to cut motors.

If you wanted I'm sure you can do the whole landing manually, turning off auto land in settings (?) but I see no reason not to let it do that so nice and gently, so haven't looked for that in settings.

I don't know if it's been fixed, but in the past with Phantoms, using CSC to shut down motors after landing could cause it to topple over before CSC is recognized. Best to just hold left stick down until shut off.
