How long to authorizations last?

Once you receive an FAA authorization to fly in a given controlled airspace, how long it the authorization good for?

if you receive a verbal authorization from a control tower you normally tell ATC how long you're going to fly for. If you get a COA its stated on the document

When you call a tower, I thought you were just informing them not getting “authorization”
