How to make a pano that isn't a pano?

You’re also gonna have fun if you’re doing a beachfront with moving waves, that’s gonna be difficult but if you take many of the same shots over and over again, it can work out. Good luck with the shot and post your results!

I'm not really concerned with the water, but rather the beach and buildings. Of course, the moving tourists may be problematic, also.

After you have the next to final pano, simply use a photo editing program to remove unwanted subjects.

Curious what software you’d use to stitch a complex pano that ISNT shot from one viewpoint? Each time you move the camera all the angles to objects in the scene change as do shadows.
Most stitching software is designed to stitch from a single viewpoint as none of the overlapping objects change. The point of a rotating pano head ( and why drones with its central located camera work so well) is to adjust camera so it rotates around a single point of view thus making the stitch possible without errors.

Photogrammetry or mapping programs stitch images shot from different camera positions.
Good stitching programs have multiple projection formulas that you can use.
To stitch as the OP requires you would use a program which offers a planar projection option.

Good points. I’ve used Hugin for this, it’s free and is based on Panorama Tools.

I use PTGUI and it does handle planar projections.....it is not free nor inexpensive but it suits my needs for drone and DSLR Panos.
