How to remove rubber gripper pads on controller

I want to use my ipad mini in its slim case, I can jam it in but I would like to remove one side of the rubber grippers on the controller. I see there are some torx screws on the bottom but I don't know if that is related. I don't want to do any damage to my controller by using a razor. Does anyone know how i can remove? Thanks!
 
Remove the top screw (or bottom two screws) on the bottom of the arm and slide the rubber piece down to remove it.
