Did a quick trip down to NW GA - Rabun County - to Tallulah Falls State Park. Got some fair drone video and pics considering it's a big park and a gorge about 500 or so feet below the top of the gorge.

Hurricane Falls is one of the more viewed falls of several within the park; as it has a suspension bridge to cross the river from the Visitor Center and 350 steps down to the base of the falls - via an observation deck.

The suspension bridge is barely visible just above the top of the falls.

Nice and smooth.. good job :)

Here's first video of going into Hurricane Falls via riverbed and passing the lower observation viewing deck that is 350 steps down for the suspension bridge above the falls (in previous video).

Was hoping for more snow, as it had snowed about 2-3 inches the night before, but most had burned off by 4 pm in the afternoon when we arrived.

Light was a real pain - shadows and direct sun and video is 1080p at 4X Zoom.

I would have loved to have gotten my MA-2 in there to take some shots of the falls, but as a Georgia State Park, (No-Drones) it's not really a risk I wanted to take. I guess I can enjoy yours. Thanks for posting.

Very nice. I climbed Tallulah falls over 45 years ago before there were steps. It wasn't the smartest thing I ever did ;)

Nice photo and great videos.

Many spots right outside the gorge to take-off / land - then fly into the gorge. I saw nothing about any restrictions on UAVForecast / KittyHawk / or the DJI App. Some friends have flown it and they they took off and landed across Hwy 23 to not be at all in the park - but more down at the lake / dam area to capture that and then fly more into the gorge.

But will check it out a bit more to verify for sure. Then, if so - any future flights will be done for outside of park boundaries for sure.

Thanks for the heads up.

This is making me discouraged with our sport. There are so many places we can’t fly plus some areas that try to intimidate and prohibit flights that is clearly not an FAA NFZ. Sorry, I just needed to vent.

I can agree and disagree both. I agree that many great spots are being blocked from our use / enjoyment with one swipe of the pen and probably little to no real evidence that someone actually harmed a person in the process of flying a drone in a state park / etc.

On the other hand, I see the safety side too - as there are a small few whom probably do not care about the safety of people and wildlife - they want what they want. These are the people that make it tough on all drone people.

This park, like many - charge for people to come and park - thus paying an admission fee. If I pay that fee, why am I being denied access to taking photo's / video's like someone with a camera; simply because I fly a UAV. Is that not discrimination? I, like most of you look for far away from people places to take-off / land and fly the drone being as safe as possible.

I guess overall - we will ALL have to team up and fight these rules and maybe we can win some victories along the way. As the FAA loosens some of their restrictive regulations - maybe, just maybe we can get cities and states to relax A LITTLE too.

Droners pay taxes like everyone else for parks and such; so we should have access as well to fly safely and within the rules. Yet, if WE say nothing - then we allow these people to close off areas to us that we should have access to. So, time to write / email / call your local authorities / representatives and let them know where you stand on the subject. Have them produce a "reason" why they made such egregious limits - based on what?
