Okay, some of you probably read the title and thought, "Is this guy an idiot?" But I was always told: The only stupid question is the unasked question.

Because it's the dead of winter, I haven't had a chance to do any filming. So I've been on the internet learning about everything drone. Lately I've been reading about various editing software, grading and correcting (what's the difference of those?) video, and filming/cinematic techniques.

And I've come across a couple terms that I understand but wonder if they basically serve the same purpose: LUTs and presets. What's the difference? Is there a difference? Please enlighten this ignorant droney (Is that a legit term?)

Traditional presets are specific to one application. LUTS can be created and used by a multitude of Non Linear Editing applications. For instance, if one created a LUT in Davinci Resolve that same LUT could be used in Premiere Pro CC or Final Cut Pro, etc.
