I am very intrigued by this Insta360 aerial kit that is available for the Mavic 2 pro. But it has limitations with losing GPS and forcing you to fly in Atti mode. Has anyone tried it out? Looking to see if I should get this or wait for a newer and improved model to come out.

Turns it into God mode. Make wicked cool 360 frames. As well while you playback, you can change the frame anyway you want.

This is still new technology, but it is the Future of Aerial drone photography.

I hope Mavic Pro 3 incorporates a 360 duel lens application where you can change the frame in any direction in editing of your flight like the Insta360 camera offers. Will give a epic FPV effect for these DJI smart drones.

I’ve said it before on here - but I think 360 cameras are the future of drone cameras. No gimbal, so no moving parts, less bits to break, saves power on battery etc, less weight too.

I used to have an Osmo Pocket, but replaced it with an Insta360 One-R - it’s so much better. Just as stable, and I can just walk and film and it captures everything. Choose what I want to show in post. Brilliant.
insta360 do their own drone;

Id love this on a future Mini.

This is a pretty interesting way to depict something in 360 mode. What was the cost, if you don’t mind my asking?

I've found a lot of problems with Insta Aerial Edition,
I check it with 2 drones, 2 Insta One R, 2 Aerial frames!

First I test it on a Platinum.
GPS doesn't work, continuously turn on and off. Very difficult to fly.

Then I check it on a Mavic Pro Standard.
...the same result.

Then Insta kindly sent to me another frame, I ask a friend another Insta One R to double-check:

No solution. Now Insta asks to ship all back. I'm so sad, I lost more than one month.

The only way to work for me is with a "pendulum" configuration:

Today DHL pick it up and ship all back to China.
Sadly I discovered only today the amazing Super-Patcher that extends GPS to Galileo Constellation.

Maybe it could be the solution, but now I miss the camera, the split-lens, and the cube battery modules.

Does anyone have the experience to share?

Please help... I really like 360 videos from drones, but I like to fly safely.

I have two different frames for the Mavic 2, v1 has the cameras aligned to the centre and bridging cable and v2 has camera aligned to the side and the cable is integrated into the bottom piece.

I have flown 5 or 6 times with the v2 and have had no GPS issues but the jello effect is present. The v1 frame was a fluke eBay win as I was bidding on the split lenses and got the frame sent as a bonus. I still have not tested the v1 frame due to weather.

There might be different revisions of the Mavic 1 frame like the Mavic 2.

I'll can post pics if anyone is interested

Many thanks for your images.
I have a really sad story about Insta One r Aerial edition for Mavic 1 pro.

I use drones mainly for large building photogrammetry.
But I fell in love with 360 videos to have fast and ready-to-use results to catch information regarding buildings,
without long post-processing with ground control points and Agisoft Metashape workflow.

So I decided to find a second-hand Mavic 1 because it works with GPS and Insta One R, as declared on the Insta website.
So in April, I bought a Platinum flight more combo edition (like new) and the Aerial version to dedicate them to this new idea, with a lot of enthusiasm.

On the first flight, I suffer continuous GPS on and off, it was very difficult to land without any damage, also in an open country yard.

After few days Insta replied to me that the problem Is in the drone because it's a Platinum and not a Mavic 1 pro.
I say that the Platinum is "a Mavic 1 pro" but... I decided to sell it out losing money.

So in May, I bought a standard version of a Mavic 1 pro with really few hours of flight.
But it didn't work with GPS! So after a lot of emails, Insta sent to me another frame for Mavic 1.
But it didn't work either! I was desperate.

I try to find another Insta One R user, that gives to me for few days his core module... same results. GPS didn't work as soon as I turn on the Insta One R.

I was so frustrated because meanwhile, I was an enthusiast of the Insta One R, so I bought a selfie stick and a lot of other accessories to test all the modes of use of this great 360 camera.

Finally, the support of Insta asked me to ship back frames and the camera for technical inspection.
A few days ago they decided to refund me.

....and few days after they specify that also with the Mavic 1 pro the GPS signal is affected!
Have a look at the website now!

So now I have an old Mavic 1 pro unuseful (I just own a Mavic 2 pro for photogrammetry) and a lot of accessories,
I've lost several months and money ...and first of all, I can't have my 360 videos !!!!

It's a really sad story, isn't it?
