Sport mode will still have active GPS.. activating sport mode will disable the collision sensors, and allow the drone to move/react faster. It won’t disable GPS. ATTI mode disables GPS.. more so in sport mode you might want GPS active, other wise no brakes! It will float away.

Yes, Sport Mode still uses GPS. But you can fly faster than in GPS Mode and that's not possible right now. Maybe I need to update the Mavic Firmware.

Sport mode should allow you to fly faster the position or tripod mode, that is correct. GPS does not slow that down, that keeps you in position. If your GPS mode does not work, then that’s vision mode.
Sport mode should be faster.. what speed are you getting!?
