iPad does not connect to controller

New Mavic pro owner here. I've got my MP working with my LG k7 android phone fine, but my ultimate goal was to use the iPad Air 2 (with the hope of running ground station maybe). For some reason, my iPad doesn't seem to connect to the controller. I am using the USB plug on the bottom of the controller with the regular lightning charging cable. Is there something else I need to do? Everything works as it should with the android phone and the iPad works perfectly in every other capacity.

Any idea where I might be going astray?

While the go app is open unplug the USB then plug it back in

Is the Drone paired to the controller

Make sure the USB cord on the side of the controller is unplugged

Yes that's what the problem is if you have the USB plugged in for your phone the USB on the bottom of the controller will not work you can only have one plugged in at a time

Yep. That was the problem. I still had the phone USB plugged into the side even though there was nothing on the other end. I unplugged it, exited the go 4 app and reloaded it and all was well.
