Is a wifi only model ok? Or do you need cellular data hook up for the maps and such?

Wi-Fi models are okay to use if you don't need to use the Follow Me feature or have a reason to reset the home point to your current location after taking off.

In addition if you need to update maps you can hotspot to your phone, but you still won't have GPS.
