I'm currently using a 9th gen iPad to fly with. Unfortunately, it's "only" a 32Gb version, and I keep running out of space...which slows down the 3 apps I fly with (Go4, DD, Litchi).

So I'm looking around and I see a 7th 5th gen iPad Pro Air 64Gb version; seems to have a better processor and screen resolution for a reasonable price.

Would the ipad air be an upgrade? I know very little about apple products (this ipad is the only apple device I've ever used), but I have researched the heck out of it. Any advice would be great!

Oops...it's an iPad Air 5th gen, not a 7th gen iPad Pro! :D Wow...typos!

I can only comment about the brightness of the Ipad Mini4 I used to use.Hard to see in bright light.I have a Crystal Sky high brightness monitor that is excellent.

Google is your friend.
It's an upgrade, but its still 500 nits brightness. Better display though

Buy a used Smart Controller then buy yourself a Feel World monitor that is 2,400NITS and will not dim as it gets hotter, like all iPads and iPhones will. That's what I use. Load aps on the SC and use the extremely bright 7 inch monitor to see what the camera is looking at. It was only about $225 and I believe they make larger monitors too now. Check out ebay for used ones.

Thanks; I did do that comparison (also on a few other "vs" type sites) and saw that on paper it's an upgrade (except for the brightness), just wanting some real-world feedback from people who have used both.

Thanks; I know about the smart controller and the monitors...I was specifically asking about the ipad air.

Oh good. I didn't know, of course, because lots of people are after something that is bright in sunny weather and are not aware of the super bright Feel World selection of monitors. They think the iPads are good and bright, until they find out in hot weather that they dim and are useless. Good like with your search for the best option for your needs.

I have for sure experienced my ipad 9th gen being dim and overheating. Now I sit in my truck with the A/C on 99% of the time; fixes the overheating and helps a ton with the dim screen.

I bought that ipad air 5th gen yesterday. I transferred all my apps/settings from my ipad last night, and plan to begin testing it at lunchtime today. :)
