DJI is known for not following standard APIs. It may be specifically looking for the actual GPS hardware and ignoring externally connected.

The Ipad will recognize the gps location from the GLO 2 and the DJI app should see the information as if it was generated by the Ipad.

This is correct. It is the setup that I use and it works great.
