If I were programming that functionality I would use a time-weighted and height dependent wind average so that it was not unduly affected by gusts.
Fair. From my experience the low power RTH is conservative enough to bring the bird back in most ‘normal’ flying conditions and if the inward leg is against high winds I account for that.
I can certainly see the benefits of including wind speed into the calculation. I just think it may introduce other factors that may cause issues too.
