I live adjacent to the Missouri River in Montana. Our property has about a mile of river frontage. I enjoy flying my Air3s over the river and have done so often. Had an interesting message on my RC2 while getting ready to take flight. The message appeared for several seconds then left. The message said that there was a manned aircraft present and my flight was limited to 120 ft. (not a quote but best I remember). Didn't know that was possible. Probably should have known about that feature but I didn't but I am impressed. Delayed my takeoff and sure as heck, I observed a low altitude Piper Cub well away from me but also flying following the river.

I fly an older M1P. I live right on the edge of a NFZ so at times, depending on the flight plans i will gat a warning about aircraft in the area but not their altitude

Air3 has ads-b aka "airsense" so it does detect nearby aircraft equipped with ads-b

I don’t think it does. As far as I can find the only drones with AirSense are the Mavic 3 series, Air 2 and Air 2S, and oddly the DJI FPV. I can't find it listed as a feature on the Air 3S anywhere, and my Air 3 doesn’t have it.

Furthermore, that response would be a first... All it's ever done on my A2S was warn me there was an aircraft in the area and show it on the map view – no limiting height.

Some mysteries here...

That's not coming from airsense (ads-b) on the M1P, it doesn’t have it.

yes I checked and Airsense is not mentioned in Air3 specs. I would be surprised if they removed it though, esp since they have it in mavics. As for the message - who knows - message is controlled by the RC firmware which can change at any moment and without any detailed changelog.

Its not mentioned but air 3 def has airsense the setting is even in the safety column when booted up in app its just never worked really for me well atleast like on my air 2 ….as of recently tho i have been seeing airsense notifications on the air 3 like i used to on air 2 so maybe it was an dji fly app issue …so as of latest air 3 fw for remote and drone and latest fly app1.15.5 its working like normal

I've received one Air Sense warning and, in response, landed my Air 3, but I never saw or heard a nearby, low-flying aircraft.

It's not unusual, however, for crop-dusters to operate nearby in the warmer months. I've also seen or heard low-flying rotary-wing aircraft used to inspect power lines or as an air ambulance near my home (a neighbor is a flight nurse, and sometimes the pilot will buzz or circle his house when it isn't transporting a patient). His kids love it. Even inside the house, I can hear the sound the hum of the gas turbine and the thump of the rotors over quite a distance.

A week or so ago, I'd been flying my drone in a rather remote area and, as I began driving home, saw a helicopter operating within a mile of my launch point. It was equipped for sling-loading and appeared to be helping string aerial transmission lines over some rugged terrain. I never saw or heard it while my Air 3 was aloft, but then there was a large hill between it and my flight area. If the helicopter was transmitting ADS-B, the Air 3 didn't receive a signal.

I also could find no mention of Air Sense in the operator's manual, so yeah, the function must have been added during an update.

Can't dispute what others have experienced, but count me skeptical until I check it out on my Air 3 😉

I live about 3 miles from DFW airport and I have a 100' flight ceiling. I fly in my back yard about 8' to 10' and maneuver around trees, I get that warning about every 1-3 minutes. It is annoying but good practice.
