Just took delivery of a new Air 3s which came with the N-3 controller. (no screen). I want to use my
existing RC2 controller instead. Do I need to link the drone and the N-3 that it came with FIRST or can
I skip that and pair the new drone with my existing RC2? Thank you!

You Don't need to link it to the included controller. You can skip that if you like and just pair the controller you want to use.

That's what I did and I'm good to go. Thank you!
Glad you got it sorted.

It's a little more complicated, if it were a newer drone released after the RC 2 was manufactured, where the RC 2 would first have to be updated to recognize the new drone. The newer drone might also have to updated to recognize the RC 2, which might require using the already paired RC-N3 to first update the drone FW, before it could bind with the RC 2.
