I'm afraid my New Mexico visit has been a let down, at least so far: Today was bittersweet, after driving to beautifully scenic, wide open, legal terrain for flying out by Puye Cliffs, Abiquiu, and Ghost Ranch (stunning!) per
@sar104's suggestion above, only to have winds far too strong to put my MPP up in the air.
Worse, Saturday at Albuquerque's Balloon Fiesta Park was upsetting: Wide open field, clear airspace, and beautiful weather, but "Aircraft Disconnected" three flights in a row at close range and low altitudes, with DJI Go 4 and RC both fully unresponsive into and through failsafe RTH and precision auto-land (I'm thankful those worked as designed). This same problem occurred last week on a flight from my home near Seattle. (Due to the many other recent, unsolved reports of this and DJI forums, I strongly suspect a DJI firmware bug.)
FWIW, attached is some (mobile cache) video of what it looked like, plus my words "Aircraft disconnected" recorded in the final second. (Note, video continued recording to the MPP SD card through RTH and landing.)
Tomorrow, perhaps winds will be ok for some flying en route back to ABQ on the "turquoise trail" through Madrid.
