Looking for Places to Fly in Albuquerque

Thanks, sar104, I'll have a look at those. Another I've come across is ArcGIS Web Application

That's using the same data, but a nicer visualization than the basic USGS maps. If you want easy access to high-resolution versions of the USFS quad topos, which are the best for backcountry or wilderness travel, then I recommend the premium-level subscription to GaiaGPS.

I think today's plan will be a stop by Balloon Fiesta Park, en route to Santa Fe

Not particularly scenic terrain there, but I'm still new and conservative, with a yet to be insured MPP. :)

If you go a little further north, towards Taos, Carson National Forest is mostly open. Nice scenery up there...

I'm afraid my New Mexico visit has been a let down, at least so far: Today was bittersweet, after driving to beautifully scenic, wide open, legal terrain for flying out by Puye Cliffs, Abiquiu, and Ghost Ranch (stunning!) per @sar104's suggestion above, only to have winds far too strong to put my MPP up in the air.

Worse, Saturday at Albuquerque's Balloon Fiesta Park was upsetting: Wide open field, clear airspace, and beautiful weather, but "Aircraft Disconnected" three flights in a row at close range and low altitudes, with DJI Go 4 and RC both fully unresponsive into and through failsafe RTH and precision auto-land (I'm thankful those worked as designed). This same problem occurred last week on a flight from my home near Seattle. (Due to the many other recent, unsolved reports of this and DJI forums, I strongly suspect a DJI firmware bug.)

FWIW, attached is some (mobile cache) video of what it looked like, plus my words "Aircraft disconnected" recorded in the final second. (Note, video continued recording to the MPP SD card through RTH and landing.)

Tomorrow, perhaps winds will be ok for some flying en route back to ABQ on the "turquoise trail" through Madrid.

Indeed, some beautiful scenery on Route 14 between Santa Fe and Albuquerque. Here's a DJI Go hand edited clip (my first!) from the 1 minute 55 seconds I was able to record before yet another RC disconnection (see Worsening disconnections from RC, video of latest incident)

If anyone knows an easy method/app to fade music/video at end of clips, I'd love to hear from you. (Also, I'm not sure why YouTube stream stutters, plays smoothly on my phone.)
