I want it for airband to comm with aerodrome centers but waterproof as taking off from boats. Would it do the job?

This doesn't do airband. And AFAIK in most places UAV operators aren't allowed to talk to ATC over radio (of course you can listen for your own situational awareness).

As said above, it is a marine radio only.

For airband I use the SP-400. It's pretty good receiving and transmitting, and simpler to use than the equivalent Yaesu and Icom models, for example. It does ILS too, if you care.
