Lost 4x zoom for photos

Upgraded to latest level of firmware. I thought last week I was able to use 4x zoom for photos but now only seeing 1x and 2x zoom. 4x for videos works fine. Is there a camera setting to allow 4x zoom for pictures?

No there is not. But wouldn't it be nice if they just "turned on" that option one day?

Most tablets and phones have a native way of digitally zooming in on the screen in any app, and then you can just take a screenshot. Should be about of the same quality! 4x digital zoom in 1080p is also very low resolution.

I checked the specs in my manual and it says NO zoom for photos, only zoom for video. I have only had mine up 1x so I'm surely not the expert.

But did you check the release notes for latest firmware?

You forgot the limitations of 4x digital zoom on video, which requires reducing the video resolution down to to 1080p from 4K. There is no 4x digital zoom in 4K video, only a 2x digital zoom. Photos use the full resolution of the sensor, just like 4K video does. If you really want 4x digital zoom on photos, shoot video in 1080p and use the 4x digital zoom and take a live screenshot, or take a frame grab from the digital 4x 1080p video later at home.
