Bird tips drone.... drone hits ground... battery ejects... sudden power loss?
I summarised the story told by the flight data in post #2 and gave a link you can click to see a short version of that data.
The data is being recorded each 1/10th of a second and ends with the drone 346 feet above the ground, in stable flight.
There's no hint of anything bumping the drone and no data for the fall to the ground which you would see in the scenario you described.
The sudden power loss happened 346 feet up.

Thanks guys. I contacted support so hopefully they can offer a replacement. Additionally me and 2 other people spent probably 2-3 hours searching its last known and didn't see it, but there was a lot of tall grass.
I lost mine on a steep thickly forested hillside. I located using last known, and triangulating from Home point and my moving signal with Smart Controller. The hardest part was SCALE as it was difficult to determine the distance between me & last known. (of course Home and Last Known distance was static, so that give sense of scale) I never turned off the SC, was able to locate before power shutoff. I was under the impression that units are only replaced if found. Not sure what would be on display if I had lost power on SC. Perhaps not as easy to locate on a return search. Good luck!

So you've flown over buildings, people, roads and beyond line of sight!! Why?

Thank you for your insightful comment!
I'm sure this is exactly the discussion OP planned to have in his thread!

I'm trying to figure out why that comment was made.I see no people or anything in his flight path looks like trees and open land

You’re obviously not looking at his total flight path then. Look at the link in #2

Whilst the OP has my sympathy for his loss, let’s not ignore the fact that he broke most of the drone code rules.

It's better not to scold. But these are powerful devices for their size. And what we do with our aircraft could have far reaching consequences. I crashed my drone because I relied too much on the sensors. I don't want to learn any more hard lessons.

The key rules were written with good reason. When I taught scuba diving I made sure the students understood the potential consequences of ignoring the basics. It really was almost as simple as crossing a busy street, yet how many pedestrians have we all seen texting nonchalantly amid hurtling vehicles.

I try to be hyper aware when I fly, but each flight challenges my ability to manage multiple risk factors. I keep the important ones at the top of the list, yet continue to forget others like camera settings, composition goals etc. I fly in remote areas only, not wanting to be the guy that drops a drone into a crowd. This is an excellent forum, and I find most of the replies enlightening.

Those observations and your question are almost certainly irrelevant in considering what the cause of the incident might have been.

well In the picture posted I see no people and as far as I know there's no regs stating you can't fly over roads or buildings. It was a pointless statement and as far as the VLOS hey maybe he's got really good eyesight and could see his drone.

Whilst not wishing to totally derail this topic, you point is ridiculous because the image is taken from Google Maps, not from the actual drone’s camera

“Flying a little over 5000 feet away” - there’s your problem. Just because we can do something doesn’t mean we should.

Perhaps we need a new forum "DJI Drones suddenly dropping from the sky". It seems to be happening far too often, yet nothing heard from DJI about the problems.

I think if you look at all those post we'd find that most of them were Operator error and the few that were drones fault DJI made right, at least most of them:)
