Manufacturer Defect - Grill Marks?

After seeing more and more people get their hands on the mini and post pictures to social media out of excitement, I’m noticing a hand full of them have what look like “grill marks”- very faint lines that are noticeable in the right light- all in the exact same place. I had this on mine and returned back to Best Buy. No, it’s not a huge deal and I hate to be “that guy” but are any more of you experiencing this? I’ve come across quite a few with this issue. I’ve attached a photo of mine and edited it to highlight the areas. Let’s make DJI aware of this.

I have marks like that on my Mavic Mini too. I ordered mine from the DJI Store.

Posted this on Reddit and multiple people commented saying they have them too. One user stated that it’s called "Tiger Striping." You see this a lot in unpainted car bumpers...but never Honda...anyway...its caused by uneven cooling during the flow of plastic in the injection process. No structural defect, usually (99.9%) just a visual problem. You see it more as sunlight hits it. I contacted DJI today about it and they said they’d essentially send it up the chain.

It is more likely to be a surface defect in the mould- melt temp, injection rate, pressure and other process parameters might make it less visible (reduce the overall surface detail to hide it) however it is purely cosmetic. If it was a flow issue you wouldn’t see the same pattern in the same place for every part.

i thought that is some shadows, but now i know it was not, you are right, mine had too, but now it is broken and went to diagnosis in service, will see when it will be replaced
