My Mavic 4 Pro sticker warns me "Unfold arms before inserting or removing battery". Why is that and what is the problem caused if I fail to do that is the question I asked DJI chat. Turns out it's just a question of ensuring the battery is fully installed. They're worried if you don't open the arms you won't get the battery in all the way so that's all there is to that.

I don't have one but isn't there a feature the allows you to power up the drone when you unfold one of the legs?

Yes. You can turn that off or on; when you open one arms it turns on and close the leg it turns off. When, however, the drone is closed up and you want to simply swap a battery, the directions implied you really needed to open the arms. I didn't know why and didn't want to mess anything up so I asked and...you don't :).

I can't see it being anything but making things easier.
It's very awkward to remove the battery when the drone is folded.
If you open the front arms it's much easier.

Agreed

It's the same with the Mavic 3 Pro, while you can remove the battery by barely prying open the arms, you really should unfold completely when inserting the battery instead of just using your finger or thumb to push the battery fully to click and lock.
