Two years ago I lent my Mavic 2 batteries to a friend who is a pretty serious cinematographer. Unfortunately, all his equipment (including my batteries) was stolen. He got a good insurance payment and reimbursed me the cost of the batteries--back then DJI actually had them in stock. Unfortunately, life got in the way and I never bought replacement batteries. About three weeks ago the Boston PD notified him that his equipment was recovered in decent shape. Unfortunately, my Mavic 2 batteries apparently were never charged and are now D-E-A-D dead. Since the only "factory" DJI batteries I could find are are used, I'm looking at aftermarket products of which there are MANY.

Has anyone actually bought aftermarket Mavic 2 bats that are decent? If so, I would very much like to where they were purchased.

Thanks in advance!

Darned thieves don't properly maintain batteries on stolen equipment!
Who knew? LOL!

At least you were already fully reimbursed for them, so them being recovered dead changes nothing.

Your own original batteries, if you had been able to properly maintained them, would now be used as well. I'd try buying some well maintained used OEM batteries that are not swollen, which was a known issue with all Mavic 2 batteries. Most of mine are starting to swell.

Aftermarket batteries are a crap shoot, but worth testing, if the only existing Mavic 2 used OEM batteries are all swollen. Buy one of each from several different vendors and try them out. Worst that can happen is they crash your Mavic 2, and then you have an excuse to buy a newer model with new OEM batteries.

I recently had to buy M2P batteries and decided to buy used instead of off-brand. I bought on ebay, where prices were about half the cost of a new one, and asked the owner whether there was any swelling at all. He replied no, and I got the batteries, which seem fine. I think this route may be less risky than buying off brand.

CAUTION!!! Charge went from 98% to "auto power-off protection" (i.e., crash) in 33 seconds. I was flying my M2P with an aftermarket battery purchased from Amazon. It was three months old with two flights and two charge cycles (I rotate through 8 batteries and have not had many jobs this summer). Battery was firmly seated (I always double check) and strapped in with velcro (always done for safety).

I was flying a waypoint mission in Litchi. I started my rotors and did a last-minute check of drone and controller battery charge (drone at 98% and controller at 71%) , then hit the start mission button. It took off and then flew to the first waypoint, turned and aimed the gimbal at the POI, and started toward the second waypoint. At 21 seconds after takeoff, I received a "CRITICAL LOW BATTERY" warning and "LANDING NOW." Two seconds later the battery had 0% charge, went into "auto power off protection" mode (AKA uncontrolled crash), and my drone crashed into the street. In a total of 33 seconds, it went from 98% charge to crash. Battery and props destroyed, gimbal vibration dampener broken, gimbal not working properly. I hope that DJI can fix the drone (although it may be time to bite the bullet and get a Matrice 4E)

Also note that some after market batteries DO NOT support DJI Intelligent Flight Battery Auto-Discharging. (That's my label on the battery in the photo. I always label batteries by number, manufacturer (seller), and purchase date.)

Need to replace two original Mavic 2 Pro batteries; both show signs of swelling. DJI still shows "Out of Stock" for replacement batteries. Did note that aftermarket batteries are not exact replacements. Which supplier should we avoid?
