IMG_7010.jpegIMG_7009.jpegI have a Skydio 2 broken motor shaft. After a crash I trued bending it back. Since it is hard steel it just snapped off.
I am planning to pull apart a Mavic 2 Pro Zoom motor but I don’t see a Cir clip or a Screw to remove the bell.
Once the bell and shaft are detached I should be able to press the shaft free.

The shaft diameter is 3mm, and may be a close match with the Skydio.
Skydio motors replacements are still a mystery I guess, and Skydio requires all jobs to be in house, no DYI and they do not volunteer specs.

Aside from using a Mavic motor shaft as a starting point, I will be seeking anyOne with a lathe to fit the profile of length and cir clip groove and land for adapting it if even possible.

So, does anyOne in Droneville have a lathe and carbide tooling?
I need guidance on how to get the mavic motor disassembled.

What size is this Motor??

The shaft is 3x30mm
As far as kV and more idk. I tried reaching out to Drone repair businesses and Skydio but NoOne is saying.1000013884.jpgIMG_7013.png

if you measure the stators diameter and then measure its thickness it will give you the motor size....Perhaps you could then just purchase any Motor of that size and get the shaft from it.....Maybe?

Please give example of what description gets added regarding size? I see how the nomenclature relates to the dia and height of a statorIMG_7013.png

Do you mean?:

To determine a drone motor size, look at the numerical code printed on the motor, where the first two digits represent the stator diameter (in millimeters) and the last two digits represent the stator height, also in millimeters; for example, a "2206" motor has a 22mm stator diameter and a 6mm stator height.

Key points about drone motor size:
  • Numerical code: The motor size is usually indicated by a four-digit number, like "2206".
  • Stator dimensions: The first two digits represent the stator diameter, and the last two represent the stator height, both measured in millimeters.

  • Larger motor means more power: A larger motor size generally indicates greater torque and power.

also maybe the manufacturers of the other motors have the shaft size for the motor and you can find the motor with the right size, if doable?
For instance I know this isnt the size you need but motors are sold with these specs given:

  • -High-strength 4mm Steel shaft
  • -N52H High-temperature magnets, NSK bearings
  • -16x16mm hole pattern
  • -Single strand copper winding
  • -Hex bolt shaft set screw

Specifications

  • -Configuration: 12N14P
  • -Stator Diameter: 24mm

IMG_7014.jpegAre we measuring inside the stater with depth and diameter in mind?
I would love to decipher an after market non OEM motor for a Skydio 2 drone but……
I have the shaft and the dimensions to duplicate one, I have posted requests on two watch maker forums since they have lathes.
Trouble is watch parts like balance staffs and gear arbors don’t come as hardened steel, forces are minimal.

I kinda surfed around a little and that is an unusual shaft size really and I found NOTHING searching for skydio parts or motors even in the used Dept.!! Now I understand the rebuilding. lol

Around my parts we have little stores around town named Fast Fix. they repair watches maybe one of the watch guys needs a 12 pack?

You will defiantly need to get it made: It seems that along with other parts, China forbids the export of these motors. I wondered why you cant find them anywhere!
o_O

Tons of China made Dji motors. The subsidiary SKYDIO setup different. It all was for Military Contracts and the Skydio 2 ended up being no longer available to consumers.

I don't know if you can PID tune a Skydio2 Drone ..If there is a way you could just change the motors. The mounts for them are standard

This may get laughs, but it worked- I cut my own circlip groove on a fan motor shaft once by putting the shaft in a drill and spinning it while using a thin carbide wheel on my Dremell to cut it. Worked great but the fan wasn’t supposed to go as fast as a drone motor so that may be a bad thing to do for it.
