Mavic 2 Pro, DJI GO and Galaxy J5 compatibility?

Does anyone know if DJI GO is ok with Galaxy J5 (i believe v5.1)?

As i'm new to this can you confirm i need the dji GO app?

You can fly without the app but what's the point of that? Controller is quite limited in its display.
