Anyone else having this problem? Almost every one of my flights since the update has resulted in the video feed freezing, and it doesn't seem to unfreeze unless you restart the drone. Thinking about going back to the previous version till this shakes out.

Recorded video either becomes corrupted or freezes also, and I haven't noticed a pattern as far as it happening when I do anything in particular, it just freezes within a minute or two of takeoff and the map (luckily) doesn't feeze so I can easily get back to the home point.

Interesting I have S9+ on software U3ARJ2 Oct 1, 2018 monthly security patch. I'll try updating my Mavic 2 Pro this weekend and do a few flights then report back.

I had a good 30-40 flights before the update and this never happened. It seems like the first handful after the update were good, and then the last 5 or 6 had have this problem. I tried reinstalling the DJI Go 4 app, that didn't seem to make a difference. I do have quite a bit of content cached to the phone (4 GB), I might try wiping that and see if anything changes - I have the 64GB S9+ model so I opened the cache up to 10 GB.

I turn off DJI Go cache, do phone screen record because I review telemetry & OSD screen info. I've written to phone or phone SD card without issues.

Do you use a 3rd party app to record the screen? If so, I or Android? And, if Android, what app? Thanks in advance.

Have you tried restarting the app rather than the drone?

Yes - I restarted the app first, and when that didn't work I used the map to fly it back and restart everything. It seems to work for a while and then the video feed freezes again, and doesn't seem to have anything to do with distance or if I'm doing anything in particular.

Weather is crappy today, might try this weekend and see if I can find a pattern and get relief by disabling caching or something, otherwise will probably drop back to old firmware for now.

I've used mobizen, az screen recorder (paid for it) currently using Screen Recorder it's totally free seems to be light on resources.
I set to 1920x1080, Landscape, 12 Mbps bitrate, 30 fps. I checked DJI Go cache file it creates original file they save is 10 Mbps.

Someone on DJI forums suggested it for DJI CrystalSky. I don't have a CrystalSky so can't comment. CrystalSky is underpowered difficult to run an extra app to screen record supposedly he was able to record CrystalSky with this app.

If you're getting telemetry and tracking from the app but no video, there's definitely something wrong with the AC.
You could try refreshing the FW install. If that doesn't work, then you'll want to contact DJI.

When the video freezes and you land it OK by VLOS, power off normally, how's the recording?
If you didn't or couldn't stop the recording before powering off, be sure to power back on before removing the card. This way it can properly close the previous video.

What you described is what was happening - It only happened once while I was recording video, and the onboard recording was corrupted (I did restart the AC without pulling the SD card), the local cached video froze when I lost the video feed.

No issues for me latest firmware burned through 3 batteries.
Oddly enough, after reinstalling the app, and clearing the cache it hasn't happened, so it may have been app related or something.

Thanks for the feedback - I'll post more here if this problem returns.

This problem has returned a few times lately. Today was especially bad - the drone would go from losing video feed to all communications with the app, and then twice the controller actually lost communication with the drone and it RTH'd a few times before I gave up. This happened through a reboot of my phone, and several reboots of the drone and controller.

I noticed in the main DJI GO 4 App screen the controller connections status icon kept toggling between disconnected and connected. It seemed to stop if I played around a bit with the usb-c cable, so I powered everything down and connected the phone with the full-sized usb-a cable that ships with the drone, and everything worked flawlessly. I also noticed in the process that the factory micro usb to usb-c cable gets 'kinked' in a few places due to being a little longer than needed while my phone is connected. I've read in a few messages lists that the factory usb cable isn't very good quality, so I ordered a well reviewed usb-a to usb-c 1 ft right angled cable today on amazon and am going to give that a try for a while.

It seems strange that this behavior would lead to the controller losing communication with the drone - it's almost as if the controller itself 'crashes' when this happens.

I'll try to revisit this thread in a few weeks and post an update with how things go moving forward.

Still in good shape. I ended up buying this cable for $8 on Amazon - it fits really well and works great!

I attached a few photos with the old cable showing how it kinks near the connector on my phone and how the new cable fits. The protrusion of the connector isn't as annoying as it looks, but it is there.

So, about how long is the cable? 9 inches?

Losing app connection to the RC should not affect RC to AC or what's recorded on the AC storage. You can fly with no app at all.

That's what I thought. Maybe coincidence or separate problem I guess. Will have to wait and see I guess.
