Mavic 3 Firmware - update or not?

I haven't used my Mavic 3 much in the last year and change, but am starting to use it more often now that I am retired.

The current firmware is 00.10.1300. The Fly app keeps telling me to upgrade to 01.00.1500. The drone flies well and everything function that I use (mostly still photography) seems to work fine.

Is there any reason to upgrade the firmware?

Thank you in advance.

If the drone works fine, it is best to avoid those firmware downgrades because they usually hold nasty surprises such as limitations in the drone's performance or geographical reach. By way of example, a recent DJI firmware downgrade in the EU stealthily removed the capability of all DJI drones in the EU to complete autonomous waypoint missions when there is a loss of signal connectivity between the drone and its controller.

In other words, if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

I assume you meant upgrades rather than downgrades, unless you were being facetious, which makes sense, too!

Yes haha I was referring to the upgrades that usually downgrade a DJI drone's performance.

I’ve always upgraded to the latest firmware and s/w and never had any significant issues, that weren’t my own finger problems. In some cases you’ll be limiting the available features/options by not upgrading.

be limiting the available features/options
In the past, new features and options are listed in the release notes so the user has the option of deciding if those items are of interest for how they utilize their equipment. It’s the unknown that DJI doesn’t and aren’t required to itemize that tends to create issues for some that hit that update button.

Aircraft FW has been pretty ok in the past as far as I can remember but the FlyApp had issues in the past. I remember 1.14 "introduced" very annoying flat line histogram on my RC Pro. And camera settings got stuck sometimes which required to restart the controller. For that reason I am now a bit hesitant to update to 1.18

If it ain't broke, don't go fixin' it!
It's the deliberately undocumented changes that DJI slips into the updates that actually downgrade the drone functionality to comply with various governmental regulatory changes, or their own draconian mandates like GEO, and retroactive RID broadcasting!
