Australia. They are all universal, so I am not sure why that matters?

Yes the drones are universal but the warranties are not. Your drone from Australia would need to be returned to Australia should it need warranty service. That might not be convenient for some potential buyers, that’s why it matters:)

You are correct at the current time. DJI is hoping to offer US based warranty service when they can get the M4P parts in country.

I have yet to need warranty service on any DJI product I have purchased.

I would not count on that…Dji does not provide warranty service on any of its drones except within the country in which the product was intended to be sold.

This warranty subject is somewhat confusing. I recently had a conversation with DJI regarding an Air3S that I had considered buying. The package had been activated in Thailand and somehow ended up in the U.S. as a used product. I was told by DJI that I could, if needed, send this unit in for repair from the U.S., but if I wanted to purchase their Care Refresh(which I have never done), that option could only be done from Thailand.
I’m wondering if the activation process may be key to this issue. If you buy a DJI product from any country other than your country of residence, is this service/warranty issue tied to place of activation or tied to a serial number that DJI has an ability to track?
I’m leaning towards DJI having the ability to track both the point of activation and serial number location to some degree. What those methods are would be interesting to know. May be as simple as tied to your DJI account and its home address.
(I did not acquire the Thailand unit)

As posted elsewhere on this forum, Dji USA supposedly will “assist” with warranty service and with paid repairs (non warranty damage) for Mavic 4 pro’s sold through adarama/ BH etc, coming from Canada. Not sure about those from Australia.

Warranty will only be valid in the country of purchase. For any warranty claims, it would need other be sent to the Dji centre where it was purchased. I am in New Zealand and if I buy from Aussie, I cannot claim warranty here but need to ship it back to Aussie.

I dont understand any of this... We have used DJI Repair on about 10 times on craft we have purchased directly from DJI in China... on every occasion we have dealt with a service address in CA (?) or other part of the mainland (USA) we are in Hawaii.

Care Refresh is different than warranty. One cannot buy Care Refresh in the US for a M4P. DJI is not stocking parts in the US for the M4P currently due to customs. Many owners are buying 3rd party insurance to cover damage. State Farm is who I and others use for drones.

Warranty claims are few and far between. Some US owners with issues have reported getting their drone replaced with a new ones.

Some exporters Activate their units before shipping to the US, so that country show up in DJI records. The units I received have not been activated in another country so the first Activation is in the US.

Where are you getting the idea that activations have anything to do with warranty or care based on records and the country in which the activation took place? There are VPNs, you realize that, no?

How can you activate a drone and then sell it as new, that's impossible. AFAIK, a DJI drone can only be activated once....forever; there is no second activation.

This is the first I have heard that drones are getting activated before being sold and that too, sold as new. An activated drone is considered second hand and not new anymore. It will NOT show up on the second purchases account.

I am just reporting the action of some oversees vendors. DJI drones know where they are GPS, your realize that, no?

DJI USA will only facilitate warranty service on Mavic 4 Pro units whose serial number is "on their list" which includes all Adorama sales and Canadian sales. The refurbished replacement drone is then sourced by DJI USA from DJI Canada and delivered to you in the USA, with DJI being responsible for all shipping and any tariffs on the replacement drone.

There is something significant about the activation occurring in the country of origin. CovertDrones is selling activated Creator Combo units that are new and unflown for $5400 plus tax, and then shipping 2 of the batteries a week later.. However, he explicitly disclaims any warranty capability and any Care Refresh ability, unlike Adorama that explicitly includes a DJI 1 Year Limited Warranty for $4649. Not sure where he is getting them from.

See my two posts above.

Sure but the drone cannot use GPS during the activation process, I active my drones in a cave. I think DJI has already made it clear that the warranty is only effective for the country where the drone was bought (with a couple of exceptions). Would be really strange if I went down the street to buy a Mini and take it with me on vacation and then active it from my hotel room in Europe and not have a US warranty.

Covert drones says:
Important Disclaimer:
Please note that DJI has explicitly stated that the DJI Mavic 4 Pro is not sold in the USA. Any DJI Mavic 4 Pro that is imported into the USA will not be covered under any DJI warranty. This means that DJI Care Refresh nor Manufactures Warranty are NOT honored by DJI for this product, regardless of purchase location. Additionally, the drone will undergo activation prior to shipping. Rest Assured the drone can still be bound to your account and the drone is completely unused.

I think it is important that he says DJI determines the warranty, not the retailer. He's saying this to cover himself but I can assure you the Mavic 4 Pro has a warranty from somewhere, it just may not be from the US. He is flat out wrong if he thinks the drones from Adorama have no warranty but I expect him to say that because you know....competition. But he does say "purchase location" and not "activation location."

Sorry I wasn't clear about my comments to the statement "Some exporters Activate their units before shipping to the US, so that country show up in DJI records." I should have said I agree with "Some exporters Activate their units before shipping to the US" and I disagree with "...so that country show up in DJI records." I believe some exporters are selling used drones and telling you they activated them so can they tell you they are new which is slightly illegal but I understand why Covert has to do this because he's not an authorized seller. Any drone you buy from him (not just the M4P) runs the risk of not having a valid warranty and he would be wise to warn you when he says:

Please Note: Covert Drones is an independent reseller, not affiliated with or endorsed by DJI or its distribution network

If I bought a new drone and I didn't get a chance to activate it myself (you know, start the clock for Care Refresh) then I would immediately know it's a used drone because what I said is absolutely true: "a DJI drone can only be activated once." Obviously there are exceptions if DJI get ahold of it. I believe if Adorama couldn't offer a US warranty for their M4P drones, they would have not sold them meaning there is no option for an authorized reseller to sell drones with no warranty.

Just to be clear, it doesn't matter what the reseller explicitely declares, the warranty is determined by DJI and not the reseller or anyone else. If I sell you my 4 year old drone and I exclaim it has a DJI warranty, does that make it so? C'mon I thought we've been thru this already, why does it have to be this confusing (I realize the Mavic 4 Pro itself is confusing); none of this have ever been an issue prior to April 2025. All of a sudden we have all this confusion because one drone didn't launch in America?
